Man-Oh-Man!! Or should I say Kate-Oh-Kate. Tonight’s episode is Kate centric and a VERY interesting twist in the story line.

This is a continuation of our series on the hit ABC series LOST. If you missed the first three installments, check here.

As we rejoin our losties and freighters on the island, Locke still has Ben and is holding him prisoner in the basement of a house at the Barracks. Locke continues to ask who the mole is on the freighter and Ben continues to refuse to tell him who it is or why they’re looking for Ben and the island.

Meanwhile, Claire (Emilie de Ravin) and Kate (Evangeline Lilly) have an opportunity to chat about babies (interesting and important in just a bit!).

Kate keeps after Locke about Miles’ whereabouts but, as usual, Locke is pretty tight lipped. But that won’t keep Kate down will it! Nope, she work Hurley over to find out that Miles is in the boathouse…and off she goes.

Miles is cagey as ever. He blows off Kate’s questions and says he will continue until Kate gets him a meeting with Ben! So Kate sweet talks Sawyer (Josh Holloway) into occupying Locke so she can get Miles and Ben together where Ben confirms that he knows who Miles is and why he is there (although he doesn’t see fit to share that info with us!).

Miles then goes to work extorting $3.2 million in exchange for telling “everyone” that Ben is dead because he know who Ben really is! (What the crap?) And then…Ben agrees!!!

Apparently in exchange for keeping up her end of the deal, Miles answers Kate’s question: Yes, the freighters know about who she is and her record!

Locke finds out what Kate has done and bans her from his team. Oooooo….

Kate and Sawyer finally pick up where Sawyer left off last week when he asked Kate to stay on the island and start a new life with him…so of course Kate and Sawyer have sex! And how does she seal the deal? She tells Sawyer that she might be pregnant! Well…that doesn’t sit well with James and they break up (for good?). Hows that for some hot pillow talk!?

Meanwhile, back at Team Shephard… the helo that took off at the end of last week’s episode with Sayid and others still hasn’t arrived at the freighter. The Jack (Matthew Fox), the remaining islanders and Regina (on the freighter) are gettin a little worried. We however shouldn’t worry because we’ve already seen Sayid in a flash forward…so we know he makes it! Duh.

And in the flash forward…

Kate is arrested for the murder of her step-father…again! (remember the dude in Australia?) We see her getting out of a town car on her way into a courthouse, presumably for the trial. There are lots of reporters and cameras and protesters there to greet her (wow, her very own protesters!).

In the court, Kate is denied bail. Her lawyer want to yank at the jury’s heartstrings by bringing in KATE’S SON!!! Kate very clearly doesn’t want that so instead he calls Jack to the stand. Jack’s version of the “truth” has Kate being the heroine that saved the Oceanic 6 all on her own! After an emotional moment with Kate’s mom in the courtroom (didn’t she die in one of the flashbacks?) Kate makes a deal for 10 years of probation and walks.

Jack (Matthew Fox) is waiting on Kate (Evangeline Lilly) as she leaves the court. After some awkwardness there are a couple of smiles. Despite Kate showing some romantic interest in Jack there is another guy in her life now…someone who was on the plane…and didn’t have a ticket! Jack turns down her offer to come with her because of her son and help her into a cab (hey, what happened to the town car?) and he watches as she drives away.

We then see Kate arrive at home and cuddle her 3 or 4 year old “son”…Aaron, whom she is raising.

Wow!

Naveen Andrews as Sayid Jarrah on ABC's LOSTWELL… tonight’s episode was Sayid, portrayed by Naveen Andrews, centric and exposed a big secret! Sayid is one of the Oceanic 6! Ok, so now we’re up to Jack (Matthew Fox), Kate (Evangeline Lilly), Hurley (Jorge Garcia), and now Sayid. It also seems that Sayid is a hitman in his post-Island life. We also find out that Ben (Michael Emerson) has made it off the island, but I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t count as one of the Oceanic 6…since he wasn’t on the flight.

Anyway, back on the island everyone has divided up into two groups: Locke’s group and Jack’s group. As we rejoin Jack’s group we find them working on the helicopter, trying to make it flight worthy and trying to decide what to do next. Since the freighters are after Ben and Locke has Ben, an unhappy alliance is formed between Miles and Jack’s group of losties. Sayid, Miles, and Kate set off to find Locke and his band of merry men.

Meanwhile, Locke has led his group to the site of Jacob’s cabin except…it’s not there! Ben begins to taunt Locke and after some malcontent discussion, Locke decides they’re going to the Barracks.

As Jack’s assault team (sans Jack) make it to the Barracks it seems to be deserted…except for Hurley gagged and stuffed (literally) into a closet. As they begins to explore the rest of the Barracks, they are set upon by Locke’s group and “captured.” Ben and Sayid wind up spending some quality time together that may come into play later…we’ll have to wait and see.

After some bargaining, Locke agrees to release Sayid, Kate, and Charlotte to return to the helicopter. He holds onto Miles as insurance.

When they get back to the helo, it winds up being Lapidus (the pilot), Sayid, Desmond, and Naomi’s body making the trip back to the freighter leaving Jack (Matthew Fox), Kate (Evangeline Lilly), Charlotte, the nerdy dude, and Juliette behind.

V E R Y Interesting…

Just like last week, I took another break from the InterWorld last night to watch LOST…Wow! Just like last week’s post What Happened On Lost: The Beginning of the End, I’m gonna try to give you an update about season 4 Week 2′s installment entitled Confirmed Dead. My daughter was all pumped when she saw the title because she though we’d finally find out who was in the coffin from last seasons Through the Looking Glass episode. But alas, we did not.

Instead we found out that those Confirmed Dead where in fact the passengers and crew from Flight 815. We even saw pretty dramatic video as Remote Operated Vehicles or ROVs combed through the wreckage. Good enough in fact for “officials” to be able to identify the bodies of at least the pilot (although thats in question, more later). Now is it just me or…If the wreckage is so deep that it can’t be recovered (as they said) shouldn’t the bodies be crushed by the weight of the water?

We also met the four members of the “rescue” team from the freighter. First is Daniel Faraday, played by Jeremy Davies, he’s the one we’ve seen over the past couple of weeks saying, “I can’t really say rescuing your people is our first priority…” Daniel is some kind of physicist (so he says). Also of note, he’s been added to the regular list of actors in the credits. I presume that means we’ll see a lot more of him.

Next we meet Miles Straume, played by Ken Leung, some kind of ghostEvangeline Lilly as Kate Austen on LOST whisperer and definitely trigger happy wanna be mercenary. You might remember him from the first Rush Hour movies as the freaky blond haired henchman. Anyway, both of these guys were found by Jack (Matthew Fox) and Kate (Evangeline Lilly).

Next we meet Charlotte played by Rebecca Mader. (I knew I recognized here from somewhere, she was on another show I liked called Justice!) Anyway, she’s a pretty head-strong anthropologist with some kind of knowledge or connection with Dharma. We know that because she shows up on an archeology dig in Tunisia and finds the skeleton of a polar bear with a Dharma collar and seems to recognize it. She runs into Locke and company (including Ben) and hangs with them at least through this episode.

Finally, we meet Frank Lapidus played by Jeff Fahey. Simply, Frank is a drunk (albeit pretty good) pilot who was supposed to be the pilot on flight 815. We know that because he said so in his flashback where he questioned the identification of the actual pilot from Flight 815.

Now for the big news. No, we don’t find out any other members of the Oceanic 6 but we do find out what the “rescue” team’s primary objective is. They are on the island to get Ben! We also find out that Ben knew they were coming because (he says) he has a man on their ship! What the crap?!?

We also find out that the creepy black dude, (told Hurley his name is Matthew Abaddon) that visited Hurley in the Santa Rosa Mental Hospital is behind the “rescue.” Naomi is shown talking with him where he insists that there are no survivors from flight 815. Does he say this with such authority because he arranged for the fake ship to be at the bottom of the ocean? Hhmmm…

Finally, we also know from creepy black dude’s conversation with Naomi that the four members of the “rescue” party were specifically chosen for a purpose, and that they are to go to the island and return, all of them, safe and sound. Her job was to protect them…guess she should have thought about protecting herself!

All in all a pretty good episode. Certainly laid the groundwork for future episodes. I’d recommend a watch! Stay tuned to jtrigsby.com for more updates…only eleven more episodes this season!
