It would be disappointing to see Google move away from advertising in order to get into something like hardware or entertainment. They have clearly demonstrated their strength is in developing and providing platforms and it would be a shame for them to sacrifice that.

As for the ebook, I scanned your post this morning with great interest and tagged it to go back and digest tonight. My project is coming along, maybe even gaining a little steam... still shooting for end of March. Unless of course you're going to steal all my thunder with YOUR release! We may have to coordinate a bit on that!

Honestly, I don't think Google is going for more eyeballs for ads anymore. I think the ad business will remain a profitable one, but I think they want to move along the same lines as Microsoft. Remember, Microsoft only made software, then branched out into hardware to compliment their software, web services, search, and entertainment. Google is doing sort of the same thing, just in more of a web 3.0 way.

And thanks for the congratulations, the e-book launch went very well. As I chronicled in my latest post: 7 Lessons Learned from a Successful E-Book Launch http://www.rodkirby.com/archives/2589

I'm working on a top secret, super-duper, triple-awesome project to launch by the end of March beginning of April so we'll see if I can get another guide out before then :-)

Hey Rod, thanks for stopping by! Hhmm, cute... I've been called many things in life, but cute? Well, there's just one more to add to the list! :D

Of course Google want to rule the world... at least our view of it. They're not bashful at all about saying they want us to use the Internet more... because more use of the Internet leads to more eyeballs for more ads. If they can deliver the Internet faster, then they can show more ads faster!

And yes, Buzz will require a little more "warming" but I do think it will succeed, it will just take a little time.

BTW, I don't think we've talked since you launched The Entrepreneur's Guide to Twitter Success. Many congrats man! I'm pretty sure I downloaded my copy the first day! When can we be looking for the next success guide?

Thanks again for the input!

@jtrigsby

First and foremost, you two are cute on air together. Secondly, Google wants to rule the world, everyone knows it, yet we still give in to their "apps." And last, I'm not doing much with Buzz except for sharing things from my Google Reader shared page. Why? I'm still a little uneasy about it. I haven't warmed up to it like I have Twitter. You know? Anywho, just thought I'd stop by. Nice intro music by the way!
