Yeah, I hope so too! There seems to be a critical mass building around mobile and you hit the nail on the head. Its not just phones any more, you have to take the netbooks and tablets into account. I'm not sure that any of the three form factors will "win" because none of them are perfect. In my mind the "perfect" solution would be a single device, no larger or heavier than the iPhone, with the computing power of a netbook and can be extended with keyboard, mouse and monitor. Now that would be powerful!

I'm pretty excited about the Nexus actually and I have a side prediction to go along with it! What if Google gave the Nexus away? In exchange for a free phone, Google gets more Google Voice users (new invitations are suspended till the Nexus launch!), our email, geo-info, search info, ad views... its a win, win, win for Google and could be totally ad supported. Maybe its not the Nexus... but before the end of the year Google will give away a smart phone.

It is an exciting time in mobile and what that means for everything else!

Thanks for coming by Bob!

@jtrigsby

I hope your prediction on mobile is right. A couple thoughts on it. For the past 3 or so years, it seems like mobile is supposed to be the hot industry, but usually fizzles out. This year, with so many smart phones out there, I think conditions may be prime. It will be cool to see how it all shakes out, especially now with rumors of Nexus phone from Google and even an Apple Tablet. These devices (plus iPhone) could force a smaller footprint and better delivery of content as well as your own private library brought to you when and how you like it.
